  • Graduated from Aston University, Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) in Optometry (1974).
  • Became a Fellow of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (1975).
  • Gained Fellowship of the British Optical Association (1976).
  • Awarded Advanced Contact Lens Diploma by the British Contact Lens Association (1980).
  • Became a founder Fellow of the College of Optometrists (1980).

Whilst running her practice full-time Susan has been awarded the following Statements of Achievement from City University, London which culminated in an MSc in Clinical Optometry in 2008.
